Problematic FPS Progression

Featured Replies

Hello Simmers!

Having recently attained/purchased both TrackIR and EZDok camera, I've been quite elated about the new possibilities for views in the sim. There's been an issue, though, that's made this rather difficult. I've experienced this in the NGX, T7 and the Majestic DH4, or in other words every aircraft I've tried the two with. This may have been an issue before TrackIR (which came after EZDok), though I don't believe to this severity. Simply put, my FPS will occasionally drop to a very low value, stay there for a few seconds, and finally return to normal (around 8FPS dropping to 1-3FPS). I've noticed this also in places that shouldn't have low FPS, with minimal settings for all of the FPS killers. It seems random, as well, in that it's not only when switching views, or looking around, though both of those tend to incite the problem more than others. I've also tried several different AffinityMask/JobScheduler tweaks to no noticeable avail. It may have to do, as well, with REX4 Texture Direct, which I also recently purchased, though I can't see why it would act in this way. There are times when it becomes slow with no weather in sight at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this has made flying very, very difficult in the sim.

I've noticed this is prevalent with and without AI traffic, and the FPS is often quite high when this occurs.

A few things:

1) Try giving TrackIR a high priority for smooth, stutter-free looking around. See here.

2) Is REX4 running with a resolution of 4096? Your computer may not be able to handle a high resolution, try lowering it to 2048 or even 1024.

3) I see you are running a laptop. Ensure your laptop isn't overheating and throttling the CPU.

4) Ensure the FSX folder is excluded from your Anti-virus.

5) Defragment your hard drive.

These are a few things that I thought would be chief reason for your issues. The heat issue is of particular importance. I've read multiple threads like this only to have heat and hardware throttling be the cause for this.

Good luck!
