January 1, 200521 yr Just for fun (and something to do), earlier today I set myself up at Bangkok in the C4 SST (the next timezone to ring in the new year at that time), with the intention of seeing how many times I could ring in the new year in different timezones (while on the ground at a major city's airport). Needless to say, even at Mach 2.0, I wasn't even close to being able to make Dhaka in time for the next New Years, though maybe if I had set Mach 2 as I passed 10,000' instead of 30,000'...... Gave up after only 1 leg of this...Anyway, found an interesting bug when my sim reloaded the scenery/textures/ai for no apparent reason, neither local nor zulu clocks changed. Went into the Time & Season menu, and noticed it was suddenly New Years Day, 2004. Set it back, only to have the sim do it again. And again. And again. After several times, I gave up on resetting the right year and just let it slide. It was about 1972 by the time I landed.. Every 30-60 seconds it would just go backwards another year... Apparently this C4 SST is a time machine... :( :-lolObviously not a critical bug, but just found it amusing... hhehehAnyway, happy new year all :) Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
January 1, 200521 yr <<>> If you have XP set to correct your time, it may be doing so via the Atomic Clock. So even if you are half way around the world at Midnight, and FS9 is set to operate on system time, it may be getting reset by the system clock. IF set to operate on FS9 time, that may not happen.
January 2, 200521 yr Author Nope, XP is not set to keep my time in sync with the atomic clock. I also currently do not have the utility to keep my FS time in sync with my computer's real time (I don't think it's realistic to "skip" minutes if I spend time on pause or looking through the map dialog (which I often do to find an ILS frequency) and the utility skips ahead back to the real correct time).. I don't think the clock had anything to do with it, the time remained the same as it should be in that timezone the whole time, it just kept setting my year backwards...I'm guessing it might have been a small bug in that particular panel that didn't know how to handle year transitions properly, or regular year transitions and manual year transitions as I manually compensate for the timezone bug, and started abitrarily subtracting 1 from the year... Even after the date rolled over to 01/01/05, the panel's clock still showed Dec. 31, 2004.... Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
