P3D Select Vehicle Gremlin

Featured Replies

Suddenly, when I start P3D from the setup screen and Select Vehicle, the window where the aircaft list appears stays blank and freezes at Loading Vehicle. If I start the default flight the sim seems to run normally but if I go to the Select Vehicle screen the same thing happens.  Any suggestions? Thanks

FYI, that screen is pretty slow even on a fast computer ... have you given it some time to finish loading?  The more aircraft you have the slower it gets (especially if you have A LOT of repaints) ... did you recently install any re-paints?

Some things to try:

1.  Check your SimObjects\Airplanes directory and make sure you don't have any strange directory names or special characters

2.  Cut/Paste any third party aircraft to a different location (say C:\P3D\Temp or something)

3.  Now go back into P3DV2 and try to select a vehicle

4.  If it works, then start the process of copying back ONE AT A TIME from your C:\P3D\Temp airplane folders to the SimObjects\Airplanes folder until you find the culprit

5.  If that doesn't work, you can try deleteing your shaders folder (but that's a reach for solving this)

6.  Make sure you have full permissions to the folder under the user account you've logged into your PC with

7.  Still a problem, then disable anything in your EXE.XML or DLL.XML

Cheers, Rob

That sounds like what MacGuyver would do.  Thanks.

Rob... I tried working through your list but no joy. I finally gave up, used some weapons of mass destruction and did a clean install of P3D.

That's a bummer, sorry it didn't work for you ... hopefully problem doesn't repeat itself.
