DX10 Compatible Lighting slows FPS down considerably?

Featured Replies

I have looked, but not found, anything on this.

When I turn on DX10 Compatible Lighting in tn DX10 Controller I take a huge, 10fps or so, hit in FPS.  I run locked at 30 using all of the suggested setting and normally run between 29 and 30 FPS at Portland using FTX PNW (et-all) and FTX Portland Scenery.  As I gain altitude, say 500 to 600 ft, my frames normally go back up to 28 or so.  With Lighting enabled, I am lucky to see 13 to 15?  Turn it off and I am back to normal.

Also, how do I get rid of the glowing Halo and star effects on the runways lights.  Very annoying and I don;t see much change using the Control/ General sliders?

I love DX10, what a difference.  Haven't figured out how to install the DX10 logo in my signature yet, but I am working on it.

Thanks

Rick S.

ANSWERED: Figured this one out; FTX Night Lights were turned on?  Turn them off and viola, frames back to normal.  The only difference I see with them on is the street lights are visible and maybe a few more city lights.

Oh, using DX10 Scenery Fixer 1.4; Win8.1, FTXGlobal, FTXVector, FSGlobal 2010 X, REX4 Direct, FTX PNW all, FTX Portland Scenery, FSUIPC4 4.927a, etc....

Thanks

Hi Rick:

Check the Orbx site - there's Patch 1.7 for the PNW, and it has lighting fixes for the old light system.

FTX Global has a patch or two, as well. These are important. Also a PITA.

Also - Steve has just released v1.4 of the Fixer, which has corrected or reversed a couple of things.

You can also change the halo.bmp yourself, too - it's here.

Hope this makes life a little better!

Thanks Paul, will go thru all of this today.

PITA?

BTW, I can't seem to add the DX10  logo to my signature; what am I doing wrong?

I use MediaFire.com - it's free and not much in the way of garbage advertizing.

First, one uploads a not-to-exceed 500 x 125 (pixels) .jpg, then clicks the "share" option, then "more sharing options" (bottom-left corner, and then scroll down to the bottom link and click on the chain link next to the "Forum Embed Code": this will then be copied to the clipboard, ready for you to paste into your signature, as I've done below.
