Hello! I'm planning a flight in the Q400 from EDDH to EHAM yesterday but finally don't have time to do it. In the approach chart ILS 18C, I think the descent is too aggressive. Do you fly this approach?

Hello.

Assuming you're at 180kts, a normal speed for the procedure, a descent rate of 1500fpm should be fine. 180kts is 3 miles per minute, it's 8.4 nm from the VOR to the locator, so 2:48 mins at -1500fpm is about 4300' and you only have to loose 4000 so you should be fine.

Made the flight just minutes ago. Only a few problems. Yes, I'm learning the Q400 now... I Love it and how it flies.

 

First problem was to forgot to quit the hold at San VOR, the aircraft enter it and when I put the DTO to the next point, something not good and the approach is not good drawn. But I put in HDG mode.

 

The second problem, when intercepting the localizer, pushed APPR button, the aircraft intercept it but don't follow the GS.

 

Anyone want to correct me anything? I need to learn a bit more the Q400.
