Adding new view in P3Dv2

I looked down through the forum here and do see a post from Stephen describing the process that I found in the docs on my PC for OPUS, for generating a new camera.  However, I’m sure there is an additional step that I am getting wrong, so thought I would describe what I am doing and maybe someone could help me if I’m not doing it right…. ??

OPUS is installed with P3Dv2 being selected.  Weather works good in P3Dv2.  I have always used EZDOC before in FSX, but wanted to try OPUS.

I launch P3Dv2, select that stock Kingair.  I launch OPUS, then select “Cameras”.

Select “Add a new camera”.  Select “Assign aircraft types to your camera view”, then choose the Kingair.

Use the arrows to position the camera to what I want.

Choose “Default View”, so that my first view will always default to the one that I have just set up.

Select “Save all cameras” (OPUS takes a moment to do this).

Select “OK”.  OPUS appears to re-save cameras, after which the “Cameras” page disappears.  Right at that moment,  the view displaces from where I had placed it.  I can usually get something close to what I wanted by using the HAT switch, however if I go to another view then back again, it’s not quite the view that I wanted (still displaced).

Is there something that I am not doing right?  The displace view usually truncates the view of certain gauges that I want to see.

Thanks,  Bruce.

Best to consult the Live Camera manual, you will find a step by step guide to creating a VC camera view in there. Just follow these steps and you should be fine. You can also import CDF Camera Definition Files for that aircraft or a similar one then edit those imported views. But it would be advised to step through the example first so you know how to create new views.

You may have inadvertently created several camera views and are displaying the wrong view when the dialog is closed. Best open the Cameras dialog and click on Select Camera View and examine the displayed list. Do NOT restrict the displayed camera views to any specific aircraft or group of aircraft. Leave this set to All Aircraft Types. Delete all the views you do not need leaving just one Default VC view.

If you have created multiple views which are set as the default then the first view found will be choosen as default.

Did you create a windowed view?

There is a FSX quirk. Sometimes in certain locations and with certain aircraft FSX will displace the view. This can be corrected by temporarily tweaking the view with the Live Camera Control. After taxiing or taking off the view may realign of its own accord so you can then use the LCC to reset the temporary offset.

Thanks Stephen and Cheryl, for the very quick responses... yes, I think there are multiple views that have been set up for "default"... I will go and delete all that I can find then start again I think.....

Do the default views that the aircraft maker made also appear in the list (in OPUS)?

Thanks, Bruce.

Thanks Stephen, -

Last night I did what you suggested (deleted all cameras), and now my new cameras are working great- still have to try a wing-view camera, will try that tonight...

Thanks for all the help, Stephen and Cheryl.

Bruce.
