February 1, 201412 yr You need SimConnect.ini file on the server and the SimConnect.cfg file on the client. Post the contents of those files.
February 2, 201412 yr Author Hi Jim ok this is the simconnect.ini file which lives on the main pc and is also where I have fsx [simConnect]level=verboseconsole=0;RedirectStdOutToConsole=1;OutputDebugString=1;file=c:\simconnect%03u.log;file_next_index=0;file_max_index=9 And this is the simconnect .cfg file on my laptop where I have plan g [simconnect]Protocol=IPv4Address=192.168.0.2Port=5000MaxReceiveSize=4096DisableNagle=0 hope this helps many thanks Pete Little
February 2, 201412 yr Author Big newbie to this side of things Jim how do I check if that port is open ,and also should it be open on the server or the client or both also according to the program I'm trying to open ,it uses port 4506 which I had set or at least thought I had set on the simconnect xml and the program itself thanks again for the help Pete Little
February 2, 201412 yr Both computers. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/open-port-windows-firewall#1TC=windows-7
February 2, 201412 yr Author ok Jim will give it a go Do I need to just set the 5000 and/or the 4506 port used by plan g ? I'll start with 5000 and see what happens rgds Pete Little
February 2, 201412 yr Author Hi Jim Still no joy I have checked that ports 5000 and 4506 are are allowed through the firewall for both inbound and outbound connections on both computers, but still when I try to connect plan g to fsx after about 10 seconds plan g crashes any ideas Pete Little
February 2, 201412 yr Run the AI Traffic Utility from the SDK on the client with FSX running on the server. What happens to the utility window?
February 2, 201412 yr Author Do you happen to know what the exe file name is I assume its in the traffic toolbox folder ? However I don't think any of them are connecting to fsx Pete Little
February 2, 201412 yr ,I have been in contact with the program maker but he said that there is a bug and the guy at Microsoft has since left so that's it!! I find that hard to believe. If that were the case, none of us would be successfully using plan G. Firdt and foremost the Network and sharing have to be configured and working properly. Can you see your servers appdata folder from the client machine?
February 2, 201412 yr Author perhaps not word for word but seems pretty final to me http://www.tasoftware.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2676.0 and yes I can see the app data folder rgds Pete Little
February 3, 201412 yr Pete, If we are all using the same FSX and the same Plan G why aren't there hundreds of reports of this problem?
February 3, 201412 yr Author Hi Jim I agree totally which is why I think its my settings somewere ! Just for info, I installed it on the same pc that has fsx installed and it all works fine,I just don't want to overstretch my resources on that pc as I only have 8gb of ram and already have stuff running that's starting to put a squeeze on memory Plus I might as well try and sort it now before I might use another program that falls into the same trap Pete Pete Little
