Weird water textures at night...

Featured Replies

So, I keep getting these weird grayish sea textures while flying at night. It's annoying me, since I already did three flights while looking at those weird textures.

They are completely normal at daytime...
...But when the night comes...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your water slider set at 1x or 2x? If at 1x, that's why.

Even on 2x, when there's quite a bit of moonlight the water will still have a greyish look. Just an inherent downfall of FSX water. If you're in DX9, look up a tool called "FS Water Configurator". It is free. They're working on one for DX10 currently.

Slider is at 2x. I'm in DX11 actually, and I hate it. My computer is very new and DX11 came along with it. I don't know how to unistall DX11 and install DX9. Anyway, I'll test it and report here in 15 minutes or so...

EDIT: Thank you very much, water looks fine now! :D

Ah okay. Well, FSX doesn't run in DX11 anyway. My GPU is DX11 capable (as are most modern GPUs) but I was just wondering if you were running FSX in DX9 or "DX10 Preview" with Steve's DX10 fixer. Regardless, glad to see it's working out for ya now.
