Well after some considerable effort and help from the members here I have stabalised my graphics but have decided to buy nvidea card as had to go back to userpools=1 to avoid tearing.

 

This was a flight to Cardiff over the weekend in grim weather thanks to ASN.

Not sure is my answer. The main prob I have is tearing and artifacts and thought this was a GPU issue. Generally fps is not bad and want to avoid a re-install as my fsx is huge with my add ons!!]

Yes - artifacts can be an issue with the ATI breed of GPU, Bruce, but the Nvidia breed isn't immune, either, if it's pushed too hard.

To give any kind of sensible opinion. though - 1). we need to see your full specs in your Profile - not just  a couple of items - check out gboz's PC above, or mine at left. Then, 2). your fsx.cfg again, as you now have a new GPU, so every setting will have some kind of new impact.. Then - 3). Inspector - a screenshot please!

I have yet to buy the nvidea card and am interested that they are not immune. I am enjoying good frame rates and graphics with my current set up when using userpools=0 but after about an hour fo flying .,,,,,,tearing and artifcats start again.

 

Any advice gratefully received
