AutoPilot Disconnect

Recommended Posts

When I put in a notch of flaps, the auto pilot disconnects.  This happens from Flaps1 all the way to Flaps 40.  I have hardware so I use FSUIPC to bind the flaps hardware flap lever.

What should I look for?

I use to fly the NGX a lot but it has been a while.  I did not have this problem and the only changes I have made is the installation of the T7.

Depending on how you've set this up, that's probably the issue.  I forget the exact issue, but there are issues with binding flaps to certain setups.  I'd suggest a forum search on 'FSUIPC' and 'Flap' in the PMDG section of the forums.

Additionally, it could be that your null zone isn't set up properly.  Because you're hitting a button on the hardware, it's essentially saying "pay attention to me" and if the null zone isn't large enough such that the computer interprets the yoke is off center, it will override the AP.  It's the same as in situations where people have a hardware trim axis.  They leave it at the takeoff setting, engage the AP, and everything is fine for a while.  Later, a spike/button tells the computer to pay attention to the hardware, and then there goes the AP because of a trim mismatch.
