EICAS

Hi,

Is there a way to display the upper EICAS on the lower MFD or vice versa?  I was able to do this on the 744F using the captains side switching panel.

If you fail the upper EICAS on the 777 it will display on the MFD. Unfortunately you are unable to select any of the systems or checklist displays on the MFD.

Hey Rob,

On the real 747-400 you can move the upper EICAS to the lower screen, you can still use that lower screen to switch to other system pages, ELEC/HYD etc.

On the 777 it seem that if you move the EICAS to the lower screen you are only able to view the EICAS and nothing else.

I was hoping to mimic my old home cockpit setup  with the PMDG744.

I previously had one separate monitor that displayed the FMC and lower EICAS undocked, I would switch between the EICAS and other system pages on that one screen.

This doesn't seem possible on the T7.

Kind regards

Aha...

I fly in full screen mode....because it provides better Vsync thus less tearing.

In full screen mode you can still drag all 2D popups anywhere you want!

That way I drag everything I can find to a 2nd and 3rd monitor :-)

(Upper EICAS, MFD, ND, PFD, FMC and MCP).

that would not work for you?

Do I understand correctly that your main monitor shows the VC with PFD and ND?

And the 2nd monitor would have to display all else on one display and the FMC?

Mmmm....

I dont think that will work....unless...

Not sure if this helps:

You do know that with a click on the "L INBD" or "R INBD" switch on the display select panel, followed by a click on, for example CHKL, you can show Systems/Checklist on an inboard checklist?

or...

What happens if you set both the capt side "INBOARD DISPL" selector (below the ND) as well as the one on the Copilots side to NAV. And then fail the upper display.

Can you then get EICAS and Systems and Checklists on the lower display?

Or does EICAS then move to a PFD?

I cant try at the moment because my PC is down.....fresh installing.

Hey Rob,

I do fly in fullscreen mode with a similar setup to you.  Anyway, no worries :) I will ask a few guy's flying the 777, what I am after is more  of a trick you can do on the real 744 using the lower MFD and captains switching panel, it would seem this is not possible on the real 777 therefore not modelled.

Its a shame since it was quite handy for my cockpit setup and worked very well using the PMDG 744

EDIT - The last configuration you suggested causes the EICAS to drop to the lower screen, nothing else can be displayed on the lower MFD and you are locked out from selecting L INBD & R INBD

If that was the 744 you could still display multiple pages on the MFD.

No big deal, Boeing didn't design the panel switching logic to cater for home cockpit setups, am sure they have a good reason for changing things on the T7 ;)

Cheers

Rob Prest

You can display the 777 lower EICAS on one of the NDs if that's any help.

Yes thanks Kevin, I have been selecting MFD on the switching panel and L INBD on the EFIS panel.
