I am trying to install Sim Giants North tenerife into my FS9 which is on a seperate hard drive to the OS system (W7 64 bit)

 

When I start the installer (using run as admin) it cant find FS2004.

There is not a manual override to this installer so Im stuck.

 

Ive contacted the FS pilot shop from whom I purchased re the problem. thay say that my reg path may be broken and suggested Flight 1 reg tool

 

This Ive done but the problem still exists......unable to install.

 

Ive never had this problem before with any scenery installation. If it points to the wrong hard drive I install with the manual overide option pointing it to where it should be.

 

Any suggestions or should I give up as a bad purchase

Here's how to fix the problem so addon scenery can detect your registry entries for FS9.

 

1. Rename your FS9 folder to FS9Keep.

 

2. Insert the FS9 CD and install to the originally named folder at 1.

 

3. Install the FS9 update. You'll need to search for that on Microsoft's site.

 

4. Once that's completed launch the new FS9 install just to make sure it loads okay. Then exit it.

 

5. Rename that new FS9 folder to FS9Temp.

 

6. Rename FS9Keep to the original name.

 

7. Install Tenerife scenery. As the Registry entries are okay it should be fine.

 

8. Delete FS9Temp folder when you're happy with everything.

Run the reg tool 'as administrator': Right-click on the tool exe, select 'Run as admin...'.

Just a quick update. Tried to install on a laptop with fresh install of FS9. Installer found FS9 but when it came to activation via the sim giants web site.....crash.

I informed FS Pilotshop who themselves tried and got the same result. They have taken this product off their product list pending contact with sim giants.

 

I have been offered a full refund which I have accepted.

 

Great customer service which I thought deserved a mention.
