I am having a similar problem.  My AI traffic doesn't show up at all!  I have turned off all shadows, but nothing seems to work.  Does anyone have any idea what's going on?  P.S. I have no add-ons besides aircraft and none should interfere.  PLS HALP!    (Yep, I just joined five seconds ago!)

What directory did you install the AI traffic to? Unless it's one that is "known" to FSX already (i.e. having a reference line in the [MAIN] section of the FSX.cfg, e.g. "SimObjectPaths.06=Traffic Addon"), those files will not be seen by FSX, you'll need to add those line manually.
