March 25, 201412 yr I've updated to the latest hotfix 2B and now the aircraft refuses to fly level. Maybe I'm missing something completely obvious, although I can't imagine what. The image below shows the problem with autopilot selected LNAV and Yaw Damper on. If I turn off the autopilot, the aircraft immediately drops the right wing and rolls unless manually stopped. Any suggestions?
March 25, 201412 yr Your picture shows a BIG right rudder deflection which I am guessing you didn't command! The autopilot is fighting this with almost full left aileron, which is why you start rolling right when it is disengaged. Check your control calibration in the Majestic control panel, check rudder trim in the cockpit and then double check where all your control surfaces are doing when your yoke and pedals are centred and neutral and you're on the ground. Also don't load a scenario you saved with an older version as this sometimes causes odd behaviour, make sure you create a new flight. It should be noted the yaw damper in the Q400 has very limited rudder authority (only about 2-4 degrees) and therefore can only stabilise; it will not coordinate a turn, counteract torque induced yaw during power changes nor assist during an engine out situation. All it really provides is lateral stability during turbulence and preventing lateral PIO (dutch roll etc). I hope my advice fixes your problems, if it doesn't then I think you need to approach Majestic directly for support. ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
March 25, 201412 yr Author Thanks for you constructive reply. I reinstalled without the hotfixes, and it flew perfectly well. I installed the hotfixes, and it flew perfectly well..........again. Then I realised, that when I first updated with the latest hotfix, I hadn't set the weight and balance in the control panel in my haste to test it out !! Sure enough, just to prove it, I flew one more flight without weight and balance set up.......sure enough it showed the same symptoms as described in my first post. Sorry to waste your time :-(
