MS FSX engine quits and won't restart

I just downloaded MS FSX on a windows 8 system and was able to make a couple of flights with no problems, then the engine began to quit at the beginning of startup on the ground- I can restart for a moment then it shuts down- I tried a different plane and restarted- same thing- master is on, mixture in, full fuel, no failures programmed- also throttle on yoke became unresponsive when shut down problem arose.

Has anyone ever heard of these symptoms?

No idea, and Win 8 has it's own controller problems, but...

 

If your airport is not at sea level, full mixture may be too rich for the aircraft to run. 

 

Make sure all your cockpit graphics (throttle, mixture, etc) follow your controller properly.
