So I have been playing fsx for years without a single problem. Recently I bought a new computer since I figured its about time. The excitement of getting a new pc instantly turned into disappointment and frustration. First I could not play at all. Everytime I choose my plane planned my flight and get the loading screen, it loads and when it completes, the screen is black but I can hear the engines. After trying everything to no avail, I checked the directx box and all was great... until I started to taxi. Taxiways are flickering like crazy and even after taking off I see random terrains next to me at 15000 feet.

The DX10 mode in FSX is buggy and flickering is a common issue associated with it. Fortunately, you can download a free fix from the AVSIM library that will correct most issues. Search the library for shader_release_v3.2.2.zip. The download should include install instructions. AVSIM also has an entire subforum setup for FSX's DX10 mode, so if you have further problems you can post over there and might get a better response!
