Yes that was Intels intentions but asrock unlocked it then asus and gigabyte followed.

Its only à bios uppdate in gigabyte bios you see K OC , but intel can lock it in further chipset software uppdates.

Interesting, wasnt aware of that.  Still rather have a Z87 personally though
