February 4, 200521 yr I'm pretty new to FS9, having spent last three years with FS2002. There is really good 2002 scenery for KALB (my "home" commercial airport). Will that scenery work in FS9?
February 4, 200521 yr Most likely, yes. I am using a great KDCA version designed for FS2002, and it works fine. There are some minor issues, that for some reason, I can't get progressive taxi to work once I installed KDCA, but I am not sure if that is by design or a difference if versions. If the scenery acts like a "normal" addon, you should be able to install it into the scenery library just fine. The only real "incompatibility" is with AFCAD's. The AFCAD's (used to define airport parking and such) between each version is different. If you scenery uses an FS2002 version of AFCAD to define parking and such, you will need to find and FS2004 version of that AFCAD (if it's a popular enough download, it's most likely already out there), or build one your self using the FS2004 version of AFCAD editor.
February 4, 200521 yr I would say it may or may not.The scenery objects work OK, but runways, taxiways, and NAVAIDs may conflict with FS9.In FS2002, airport information, NAVAIDs, and AI control information were kept in separate files from the visual scenery. In FS9, these are combined with the visual scenery.I believe that all texture formats that work in FS2002 also work in FS9. There might be some difference in how alpha channel data are used, but I'm not sure on that. Maybe someone else can chime in.scott s..
February 4, 200521 yr Some may, but some others may be incompatible and cause your bearings (headings etc) to be off. I suggest if you add FS2002 sceneries to FS9, put "2002" into their titles to identify them as such. If you find later that headings seem wrong, then you can disable the labeled 2002 sceneries and use a binary search technique to find the one(s) causing the problem. I know there were some threads in this forum some time ago on this topic. Dick Bixler
February 5, 200521 yr I was searching for Moscow Sheremetyevo airport scenery for FS2004 but was unable to do so. However I did find one for FS2002.It works in FS2004 but here and there I see some strangeness - for example one of the buildings at Sheremetyevo is floating above the ground! Must have been flying the STAR. However two other FS2002 airports I have in FS9 work fine.
February 6, 200521 yr I downloaded and installed the scenery in question and it works just fine. Thanks.
