Black Screen in VC

Featured Replies

Thanks in advance for your help:

I am runing FSX with Dx10 and with majestic Dash8. Since some days ago, when I turn the view to left or right and maintain this position during more than 5 seconds, screen goes to black. If I back again the view to front,  screen recover as usual.

Does anyone know how can I fix that?

Thanks

Make sure you have the parameter highmemfix=1 in the Graphics section of the FSX.cfg.  High FSX/display driver settings can do this too.  Does it work okay if you revert back to DX9?

Dear Jim:

Many thanks for your response.

Yes I have highmemfix=1 in the graphics section and I don´t know if this disappear reverting to Dx9.

Any way, this is not the first time that this happens, in my previous computer with FS9 I had the same problem, but I don´t remember how I fixed, it was something like a kind of incompatibility with some application or something like that.

It´s really annoying, so if you have another idea it will be welcome.

You might have to download and run Addon_Converter_X.  It's payware but you can use it in trial mode first.  Aircraft textures made for FS9 are not compatible in DX10 mode.  The converter fixes that.  I apologize as I missed the "I'm running in DX10 mode".

Flying at night is resource intensive and, whenever your screen goes dark it most likely means you are running out of sufficient resources to render your graphics.  The following link regarding graphics may be of some help - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925722.  It was last updated in 2013 so is fairly up-to-date.  Perhaps just an update or reinstall of your graphics card drivers will fix the problem.  AVSIM has an excellent FSX Configuration guide and CTD Guide (which includes freezes/black screens) and I recommend you look through them to see if there's a possible solution.  A lot of our membership fly the Majestic Dash 8 and are not reporting this problem so it must be your configuration.
