I had a random/service based failure last night (FWD CARGO LOOP A FAIL) that I only found when I looked at the failures list after the flight.

 

I've since discovered that such failures are not persistent, meaning that this failure would be very unlikely to lead to FWD CARGO FIRE DET FAULT and subsequent failure of the FIRE TEST.

 

Is there a way to make failures persistent automatically or do I have to save the panel state every time?

To my knowledge, the panel state gets saved everytime you save your FSX flight. At least, that's what I do.
