February 6, 200521 yr I just upgraded to new Catalyst/DNA ATI drivers.3DMark03 test as well as Unreal Turnament run fine. But when I start FS9 it goes as far as loading scenery .. up to about 59% and then bombs out. No error message, nothing, just back to desktop.I deleted old FS9.cfg and I attempt to load FS9 in its basic form - all default settings, default scenerio, etc. No luck.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
February 6, 200521 yr Hi Michael,Whenever I upgrade my ATI drivers and first start FS9, the screen is pitch black. I hit alt-enter to go into windowed mode and my startup screen is there. To fix MY problem, I shut down the system, wait 30 seconds and restart. If the problem is still there, I'll go into FS9 display settings and change the resolution, close FS9, restart, and change the resolution back to my original resolution. Since you are bombing out w/o getting to the startup screen, I recommend you reinstall your ATI drivers manually (do not uninstall anything; just go into the Device Manager, select your video card, select drivers, select update drivers, and then tell the wizard you want to select the location of the new drivers, then goto the ATI directory where your ATI drivers were unzipped when asked). This has helped me too on occasion.Hope this helps.Jim
February 6, 200521 yr Jim.Thanks.Believe it or not I traced my problem to Flight1's USA Roads. Very strange. As soon as I disabled them (did not uninstall) everything seems to be fine. I re-enabled them and bingo - no go. I am left scratching my head.. what USA Roads have to do with new ATTI drivers.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
February 6, 200521 yr Glad you fixed your problem. Did you check your scenery.cfg file in the main FS9 folder for errors? Perhaps the layers/areas were out of sequence for USA Roads and thus caused your problem. I think the ATI drivers are a bit buggy when first installed/upgraded. My system just doesn't want to recognize the upgrade until I have shut down and restarted the system a few times.JimWinXP-Home SP2,IntelP4Processor560(3.6GHz)w/1GB DDR2 SDRAM, PCIExpressX800XT VideoCard,Audigy2
February 7, 200521 yr Author Do you have "render to texture" set to off, if so set it to ON and give it a try.I have no idea, but just guessing that US Roads may use DXT textures.* Orest-~~~~~~~~~Orest SkrypuchCYFD - Canadavirtual.united.comUAL1445 Staff ORDFO Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
