My FSX froze climbing out of thick fog in a go around situation just there. Not sure what caused it, but it wasn't a CTD, the program remained open with a "not responding" status. I was flying the NGX out of Geneva in thick fog on a go-around and the only warning I had was the FMC began to not respond to my attempts to "clear" the scratchpad of the "UNABLE 180KT AT XXXX". It just wouldn't clear.

 

Everything else was responding at the time.

 

The only other oddity was the fog (default weather no addons for texture etc) seemed to be a line across the threshold where I could see the lead in lights then bang on the threshold the fog was almost like a line you couldn't see past. I also noticed a few buildings floating in the air which i've not seen at that location before.

 

Any idea where I can begin looking for clues? I think the not being able to clear the FMC scratchpad was the major indication.

Okay I've recreated the flight and it didn't happen this time. However I did get the non clearable scratchpad unable message and the ILS led me down to a few hundred feet before the actual threshold.

 

Could this be an out of date Navdata issue?

Anyone? I'd really appreciate any level of help someone could shed on this.

I just let it spin sometime it takes 15 minutes but it has always continued/cleared without a CTD.

Fair do's. It used to happen every flight without fail then ceased to for aged when I added the UIautomationcore.dll to the folder, but this time it seems to have came back and bitten. Maybe I pushed the system too hard with weather.

 

Still it's strange that it's only the NGX and when i'm clearing messages off the scratchpad that it occurs.
