tutorial #2 - EHAM to LOWI

do you know if there suppose to be a new tutorial?

thanks for reply

Gilad

Well, no, as far as I know. But I believe the two tutorials are good enough to get you started. Of course, in reality, in most circumstances you won't fly from A to B in LNAV/VNAV, but you might have to intervene as the controllers give you instructions or delay your descent time to well  after your top of descent. Or you might have to climb using an NDAP1 or NDAP2 procedure, depending on the noise abatement procedure in effect. My suggestion is: after the tutorials by PMDG, keep flying the 737, possibly on line, i.e. IVAO or VATSIM, as that will force you to deal with busy airspace, different procedures and instructions that will have you disconnect either LNAV or VNAV to comply with the controllers' demands. I learned much much more just by doing that, and, of course, by thoroughly reading the FCOM and the FCTM. Everything you need to know is in those manuals, really.

So, going back to your question: I do not know of an upcoming third tutorial, and I believe no one needs it, as long as they learn from the manuals, and practice different procedures. The two tutorials are just an "introduction" to get you started, but I believe the learning curve is quite steep, and after the tutorials you have to be in control, by trying different things like setting up a holding point and flying the holding pattern properly, trying TOGA for a go around, using the Speed button or the Heading select, or the "bug up" procedure, or the reverse for flaps deployment schedule, all things I learned on my own by studying the aircraft. Of course, if you have doubts or things that are not clear, this is the best place to post your questions, as I am sure there are many who will come to you and help you out.

thank you very much, Enrico!

Anytime, and if you need help or have any questions, you can pm me, I'll be more than glad to help you out! If I had the time, I would like to write a few tutorials on the use of the FMC, the MCP, the different buttons and the why and when they are to be used, I am thinking about it...anyway, write me for any issues you may have with the 737NGX, and remember: it is a beautiful machine, well built and simulated, you just have to know how to talk to her...lol...
