February 14, 200521 yr If I want to simulate the use of the steering tiller, could the following be accomplished ?I have the CH Products Yoke, connected through the gameport. My idea is to connect a Sidewinder (or similar) USB Joystick. So, I would use the Yoke for flying (i.e. aileron, elevators) and the Joystick, as tiller (basically the rudder function). Is this at all possible? Or, maybe there is a better way to accomplish simulating the tiller?Comment please.Regards, Marcelo Santiago, ChilePosted on Monday, Feb14, 12:40pm EDT
February 14, 200521 yr AFAIK FS aircraft are turned by moving the rudder, there is no specific control for the tiller action. So all you need do is assign the joystick axis to the rudder function in FS. There is however issues with using USB & gameport controllers together, they don't get on well :-)As I use USB controllers I'm not sure of the issues and fixes but a search in this forum or the hardware forum should bring up something. The easiest way, if you can afford it, is to buy a set of CHPro USB pedals and use those and of course you can use them for crosswind landings.HTH
February 14, 200521 yr The Fanda Dash 8 simulates the use of a tiller for steering, making it possible to turn on a dime. It is controlled by the existing yoke/joystick however.
