May 8, 201412 yr I was wondering if someone could teach me or point me to a tutorial that could help me investigate the possibility of adding a PAPI light system to an add-on airport (personal use only planned since I didn't make the original). One of my favorite airports has a fairly nice add-on scenery. It is however a steep approach in mountainous terrain. The last terrain obstacle is pretty far out though, about 10 DME and it is possible (and actually typically) to transition to visual once clear and descend to something of a more normal 3-4 degree glideslope for short final. The real airport has a PAPI system for this runway, but the add-on scenery does not. With the lack of peripheral vision and depth perception in the simulator, it sure would be nice to have the PAPI to help judge this transition from a steep LOC/DME to a visual approach. I don't know what's involved, but was hoping it could be relatively simple to add a PAPI. Thanks for any help. Eric Szczesniak
May 9, 201412 yr Try to use ADE(Airoprt Design Editor). Is a freeware program that you can edit any afcad and very easy to use.Good luck with your project. This is the link http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=161228 .
May 9, 201412 yr Author Thank you...done and done! It took a little fiddling to figure out the coordinate system, but the airport now has a PAPI. Looking forward to trying out a flight or two tomorrow. Eric Szczesniak
