February 20, 200521 yr Hi, I'd much appreciate any help on this: is it possible to have the water effects in FS2004 look the same as it did in FS2002?I'm not talking about reflections (nor I care about them at this point), but rather about the moving pattern instead.Yes, in FS2002, when you looked at water closely, it showed a pattern of dark blue rounded shapes, moving according to an undulating pattern against a lighter background. I can't describe it better, so I hope you know what I'm talking about.I've tried replacing the eleven env_*.bmp textures in FS2004 with those from FS2002, to no avail (that simply results in a slightly darker water). So, is it possible at all to reproduce that same effect in FS2004?Thanks in advance, best regards.
February 20, 200521 yr Hi,Pretty sure it's the oceanheightfield.bmp in the texture folder that you want to look at.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
February 20, 200521 yr >Pretty sure it's the oceanheightfield.bmp in the texture>folder that you want to look at.Can you please tell me:1) What does oceanheightfield.bmp exactly do?2) Most importantly: where is it situated in FS2002?Thanks in advance,
February 20, 200521 yr 1. Controls the way the waves look.2. Should be in the texture folder. I don't have FS02 installed anymore so I can't check.3. A search of your files for oceanheightfield.bmp should find it.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
February 20, 200521 yr What happens if you just play with the water sliders. I thought you could make it look like FS2002 water just by moving the slider to the left. Can't remember which one though at the top of my head, then the water does display quite like how you describe.Craig
February 20, 200521 yr Howdy,Yes, it is possible. Do a search for Ocean FX2 by Johan de Vries in the library. This is the FS9 interface for the effects and textures OCEANSFX.ZIP and OCEANSTX.ZIP (you will also need to d/l these files as well) created by Ed Truthan for FS2002. Hope this is of some small assistance.
February 20, 200521 yr To see the FS2002 style water effects, set the terrain detail slider to full right (land and water). To see the FS2004 style water effects set the water effect slider to full right. Only one style can be used at a time.Kurt M
