May 22, 201412 yr I'm looking to program a joystick button so that I can press it when on short final and have the A/P disengage so that I can hand fly the final stages of the approach. I have assigned the button to disengage the autopilot, which it does, but it then sends an alarm going in the NGX that I cannot clear without clicking on a switch in the VC with the mouse, which is what I was trying to avoid having to so in the first place! Any ideas? Thanks.
May 22, 201412 yr You can assign a keypress through the NGX Menu for that particular disengage command. Then you can use FSUIPC to bind that key to one of your buttons. The first time you push the button it will cause the disconnect. The second time you push it, it will clear the warning. You'll want to do a similar thing for the A/T.

Is that done through the FMC menu in the aircraft itself?

May 22, 201412 yr Author Just push the button you assigned again and that will clear the alarm. Works for me.That's what I'd hoped (expected) but if I push it again it re-enables the AP! I also tried assigning the "Z" key to the button through FSUIPC and same thing. Just re engages on a second press.
May 22, 201412 yr Z key will only toggle the AP on and off. You need to assign the key command to the A/P Disconnect within the NGX FMC options. Michael Faia
