May 23, 201412 yr Hi there. Does anyone know why I am very often unable to get onto the AVSIM forums via my mobile phone? My Samsung S4 uses the unlimited internet package that comes with my contract. It connects via HSDPA/3G or sometimes Edge. At the moment my telephone displays: "FORBIDDEN" "you dont have permission to acces/forum/520-pmdg-777/on this server" Other times it tells me I am a hacker or something like that?? But if I log on with my mobile phone to my home wireless network, then all of a sudden all is fine. Then I am allowed and no hacker no more?? Same thing happens with my ipad. I have logged on to AVSIM, several days in a row, with my iPad, via the Mobile Wlan Hotspot I created with my Samsung S4. pff long sentence....hope you understand what I mean, lol It worked for a few days, and now my iPad too gets the FORBIDDEN message?? If I logon to AVSIM via another Wlan (like STARBUCKS) then all is fine again. Anybody know what is going on here? thx Rob Robson
May 24, 201412 yr Try clearing your browser cache - http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache then try again. There are some malicious IP's out there that are doing a lot of spamming and other nasty things too. You may be spamming and don't even know you are spamming. I had a friend recently who was sending me spamming messages through AOL. He had no idea he was spamming everyone in his address book. Later it was learned that AOL was hacked and many accounts were compromised. It's a long shot but just telling you that you may think you are not a spammer but you are and there's no way to know unless someone in your address book tells you to stop sending spam. Whenever you get forbidden or you are not allowed here type messages, just click on the AVSIM icon and get out of that "forbidden" area. May 24, 201412 yr Author Hi Jim, Thx a lot for the reply. Funny enough I am writing you from my mobile phone right now. I have been offline for a few hours (airplane mode) so maybe I have another ip now. But spamming.....that would be by Email no? How can one be spamming a forum? And, when I get this "Forbidden" message all I have then is a blanc (white) page with only the single line text shown above No AVSIM icon :-( There is just no way to get out of that forbidden zone :-( I have also tried deleting everything my mobile phone cashes. I did this yesterday again to no avail. I also turned my phone off yesterday, going offline to try and force a new ip, to no avail. Now all of a sudden it works. I dont get it. Maybe it is because I dont log off? I would log on at my home PC, and when done, close ie explorer and shut the PC down without using "log off". Maybe when I then try to get online with my phone, AVSIM sees this as double logon and blocks it? Rob Robson
May 24, 201412 yr Author Ok, no it is not a log off problem. Looks like an ip problem.....a BIG problem though! I logged off from AVSIM last night and turned the phone off. This morning I turned the phone on again but still got the FORBIDDEN message and otherwise blanc page again. (both on my mobile phone as well as my ipad which which was connected to the internet via my phones mobile hotspot function) Turned the phone off and on again, same same, still forbidden. Turned the phone off again and on again for the third time.....and finally AVSIM would let me log on. So IF I get a different ip adress everytime I turn my phone on, then this morning 2/3 of the ip adresses my 3G internet provider gives me are blocked by AVSIM! I could not find the ip adress my mobile phone is using anywhere. Googled around as well, but found no help. Further more, I tried a simcard from another provider over the last few days (it is a free simcard and you only get a few MB per day). This works without a problem every time! So the blocked ip adresses seem to be provider specific. Anything you can do with that info? Rob Robson
May 24, 201412 yr Spamming is done via e-mails but, if the IP address for that e-mail address is spamming, the IP will be blocked here. I use the following site to look at my IP and see if it is blacklisted, etc. - http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup. I think your solution is clearing your browser cache as it saves the data to your phone and, when you log back in your phone is seeing something else. This is why we recommend you hit the AVSIM icon if you get an error and then go back and try to post. Nothing else we can do on this end. Many others are logging in with their mobile devices w/o problems. I looked at your account and see no problems with it. You are using quite a few IP addresses though but none are banned or restricted. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! May 27, 201412 yr Author Like I said.....there is no AVSIM icon......just that FORBIDDEN sentence on an otherwise empty, blanc page :-( But thank you for looking into it and checking my IP adresses. I guess I will just have to live with not being able to check AVSIM while on the road. Rob Robson
May 27, 201412 yr Many others, including me, are having no problems (I have the mobile Android system too with my Samsung Smartphone III). Why are you having this issue and no one else? Did you clear your browser cache like I suggested? Pages are renewed and you may have hit an old AVSIM page that no longer exists here and so the system says "forbidden". It appears you have an old link to AVSIM. The only way to resolve that is to clear your cache. I just logged on again with my Android and I had an error message when I tried to logon. Said something like "Opps, something went wrong! We encountered a problem processing your login request. Please try again." Tried logging in again and got the same message but, right above that was "The AVSIM Com..." I clicked on that and I was logged in and had no problems visiting the various forums on AVSIM. I probably got my errors as I never cleared my cache either for my Smartphone browser. I'm successfully on though. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 1, 201412 yr Author Hi Jim. Thx for persuing this little problem here! After reading your above reply I figured, let's give it a try again. So I tried to open AVSIM on my phone, via my saved Favorite and got that blanc page again with Forbidden. I have Edge reception at the moment which for some reason gives me this problem even more often than HSDPA and 3G do. Anyway, No icon....just forbidden! 1) Could that be because I was still logged on to AVSIM with my iPad (via home Wlan)? Is it important to log off? I rebooted my Samsung android phone and tried again. (iPad still logged on) Nope forbidden again. I rebooted my Samsung android phone once more and tried again.(iPad still logged on) Nope, forbidden. I then activated my phone's Wlfi and got logged on to AVSIM immediately. (iPad still logged on) So the problem is not that two devices are logged on to AVSIM at the same time. I turned Wifi off on my Mobile, had Edge reception again and clicked on a link on the AVSIM page. Blanc page with FORBIDDEN! So as soon as I try to connect via Egde.....I get Forbidden. 2)I dont see how this can have anything to do with briwser cash. Do you think that can still be browser cash related? I have deleted my cash once before to no avail but I will try again. Can you confirm I am doing that correctly?! - open internet App - settings - privacy - delete personal data - put a check mark in "Cashe" and "Browsing History" and Cookies and site data" done reboot phone. Tried to long on to AVSIM with mobile phone and Edge connection (iPad still logged on)......and just to be sure I used Google to find AVSIM (so not via my saved AVSIM link).......Nope, blanc page, no icon, nothing to click or choose or do....just "FORBIDDEN"! I will now log off from AVSIM with iPad and see what that does. Nope, that did not work either :-( Cleared browser cashe, tried again....Forbidden (iPad logged off) Cleared browser cash again, rebooted phone, used Google to find AVSIM....forbidden (iPad logged off) :-( No idea what to do from here.....unless I am not clearing the cashe correctly? So the question now is: Why can I log on to AVSIM when my mobile is connected to the internet via Wlan, but not when it is connected via Edge reception? Rob Robson
June 1, 201412 yr Hi Rob, I cannot advise you on specific technology like Edge. When you saved your access to AVSIM to Favorites, you may have been signed in and now, when trying to connect to AVSIM again, the link is no longer valid. Thus the FORBIDDEN. When you sign into AVSIM you need a static IP address and not one of those proxy server addresses. Edge may be using a proxy server. The Android/I-Pad browser cache saves information based on your last visit and it is also stores about 5 cookies. If your next attempt to access AVSIM does not meet the parameters saved in your browser cache or cookies, then your connection will fail (i.e., forbidden) and you will have to go to AVSIM.net and login again. I just tried to pull up AVSIM on my Smartphone based on my successful login when I last posted above. I did not get a FORBIDDEN but was told I do not have permission or the site is down for maintenance (it wasn't down). So I went to the address bar and entered AVSIM.net and was successfully taken to the last page I was at when I quit during my last session at AVSIM. I do not handle the mundane tasks of setting up the AVSIM website. That's handled only by Tom but, like I stated previously, many are having no problems and some are having problems like you are having. I do not know how I can fix your particular issue other than to tell you to clear your browser cache and try again and make sure the Favorites link to AVSIM is the forum.avsim.net and not a bunch of garbage after the web address. Hope this helps. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
