May 24, 201412 yr I have a problem where when I put the gear up, the view changes to behind the airplane. I deleted all my view shortcuts but the problem remains. I notice when I right mouse click on the screen, one of the selections is OPUS FSX Extenal View. This is the view I see when i put the gear up. I currently have OPUS uninstalled as a test to run down this problem. How to I rid my self of the external view? Thanks, Brad Brad Rich
May 24, 201412 yr Commercial Member Just sounds as though you have a key or command button assigned to a camera view, or doubly assigned actually within FSX. You should check your camera list in the Cameras dialog to see if your command key or button is assigned. It will not really have anything to do with the Shortcuts, only either a camera view being selected or a clash in your FSX settings. Stephen :-) Don't know why you would want to uninstall OpusFSX, just disabling the Live Camera option would have done the trick. But Live Camera will just display the view it is configured to do. You can't do anything with OpusFSX uninstalled though apart from edit all the aircraft.cfg files and removing the Opus Custom CameraDefinitions appended at the end of the files. Stephen
May 24, 201412 yr Author I deleted all my view shortcuts in an attempt to solve this problem. Even with OPUS uninstalled and no view shortcuts, I still have the menu item I described when right mouse clicking on then screen…OPUS FSX Extenal View. Note the word, OPUS. I use FSUIPC to put the gear up. I can't see a way to duplicate. When I click on the gear handle instead of using my hardware, I do not get the view change. So maybe not an OPUS problem but I would like to eliminate the menu view item I described. Thanks for the quick response. Brad Brad Rich
May 24, 201412 yr Commercial Member If you want to get rid of the External View then you must do as I said. Either install OpusFSX, enable then disable Live Camera to get it to do it for you, or edit the aircraft.cfg files manually. But Custom views are essential to ANY camera Addon as FSX only allows the eye point to be adjusted for Custom external views, hence, that's why its created. If you are uninstalling OpusFSX then this is not really an Opus issue, just disable Live Camera and it will tidy things up for you. I will get rid of this topic as it doesn't seem to be an Opus issue, especially since you are uninstalling. Stephen
May 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member Once again, Opus will ONLY do what you configure it to do and nothing more. It will only change the view if you have created a view and assigned the key sequence or button control to it, or you select an aircraft type and have defined a Default view for that aircraft. Stephen
May 25, 201412 yr Author I re installed OPUS, enabled and disabaled Live Camera. Problem still persists but the menu item is gone so certainly not an OPUS problem. What do I look for in the aircraft CFG files? Thanks, Brad Brad Rich
May 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member I'm not sure this has anything to do with the cfg files let alone OpusFSX, well it is certainly not an OpusFSX problem at all for the reasons mentioned above. You could always have a look at your aircraft.cfg file in SimObjects\Airplanes just in case something in there helps you get to the route cause. What command do you issue to get your gear down ? This still looks like you have overloaded a standard FSX view command. Stephen
May 25, 201412 yr Author I use FSUIPC to put the gear up and down. I have a PFC throttle quandrant that has a gear lever. Not sure what you mean "overloaded a standard FSX view command". All my view shortcuts were deleted trying to run down this view change problem. You said the following, "Either install OpusFSX, enable then disable Live Camera to get it to do it for you, or edit the aircraft.cfg files manually". the reason I asked about the aircraft cfg files. Thanks, Brad Brad Rich
May 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member Understood. The procedure with OpusFSX would have completely removed all Opus camera changes and CameraDefinitions in all your aircraft.cfg files. Just helping you to isolate the cause. I would not remove the FSUIPC4 control completely and configure the normal FSX gear command settings, the G command and also any assigned stick control. Then see if that prevents the view change. I would also double check those FSX settings again just in case something has been auto configured again. Stephen
May 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member Best to disable the FSUIPC4 control configuration then and configure the control in FSX. Your FSUIPC4 seems to be the main culprit or place where there is some confusion with the control action causing a possible view mode change. Stephen
May 25, 201412 yr Author wow, I bound the hardware using the G command in FSUIPC. I had been using the direct command, Gear up and gear down. When I try to configure in FSX, The device is not recognized when I try to add a joystick assignment. Looks like I will just use the G key. Brad Rich
May 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member For FSX you will have to enable your controller so that FSX can see it. Stephen
