New MOBO/CPU Clean Install

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I'm just about to replace my MOBO and CPU and wanted to ask whether its worth doing a clean install of OS etc or would it not make any difference ?

Cheers

Many would advise a clean install.

However...

I have done it both ways, and in regard to just swapping the MB and CPU, without an OS reinstall, I had no issues whatsoever.

If you do intend to do it that way, make sure you first uninstall the old chipset drivers, and all software pertaining to your old motherboard.

Windows will of course detect new hardware, and ask you to reregister Windows.
