Minimized FSX and had significant problems.

I minimized FSX for about an hour last night and when I came back to fly, both of my engines had failed. It was very bizarre as this has never happened to me before. I had plenty of fuel and my sim was definitely paused (mine pauses automatically upon minimizing). It was really surprising and frustrating. I am also encountering problems with "auto time compression". Upon reaching top of climb, the sim did not automatically switch into time compression. I had to right click on the clock button (still unsure about why that's changed). when it did activate, it was very very hesitant to get above "2X". Something doesn't seem right. Also, if anyone can clarify autotime compression setting in the "Simulation Options" of the FMS where you have to select between right clicking on the clock button or not that would be awesome!
