777 Holding Crash!

Recommended Posts

So, I was on TNCM-KMIA just now, and I decided to plan a hold at SUGLO to loose some speed and altitude, then later on, I decided it was not required anymore, went to the RTE page, and click DELETE button in the FMC and click "HOLD at" LSK and the sim crashes, not a fatal crash, just a normal crash with no event viewer report. SP1 IS installed and I was flying the B77F.

If there was no event viewer report, then it did not crash or something strange happened as the event viewer was made to record "events" that happen while your computer is turned on. Perhaps you could not find the event. The AVSIM CTD Guide (located to the right of this forum under Hot Spots) shows you how to look for an event. In addition, did you download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html ? The developer of this program also has a program to look at events.

Hello together,

I have the same issue:

If I go to the ACT RTE 1 page and click on the DELETE button in the FMC and then click on the 1st left LSK ("HOLD at"), my sim also freezes. I then have to terminate the sim.

The event viewer provides the following information about the application hang (no trigger module mentioned):

The hold was based on a fix which has been created by using the PPOS function.

I can easily reproduce this issue with a certain saved flight.

I use P3D 3.2 and the current version of the PMDG 777.

Do you know if it is possible in the real 777 to delete the hold by clicking on the DELETE button and then on the 1st left LSK ("HOLD at") at the ACT RTE 1 page? Or is this a misuse?

I had a second issue where I could not exit this hold by clicking on the 6th right LSK ("EXIT HOLD") at the ACT RTE 1 HOLD page.

Unfortnately I could not yet reproduce the second issue.

Do you know the probable root causes of the two issues?

Thanks a lot for your comments.

Regards

Please submit a trouble ticket to PMDG Product Support for the AppHang error when deleting a Hold in the FMC. It should not appHang even for a wrong button press.  I usually delete a hold or any waypoint by promoting the next waypoint up into that position rather than deleting then closing the gap. Regardless, you shouldn't get a appHang.

The second issue may have been something you did because I have no problems exiting a hold.
