Cabin Altitude Selector?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm new to the Carenado line. So far I've only been flying FSX default aircraft. Carenado is the first payware that I started exploring. And so far I have to say I really enjoy their aircraft.

My question is regarding the Cabin Altitude selector and the gauge. How do I read the gauge and how do I set it? So if I was flying at FL250, how would I set my cabin pressure. And how do I use the Altitude rate control? Thanks

High Migkiller, welcome to the forums.

Well, that is a large subject, but here is the basic operation; Before take off, (I usually set it at/during my "before taxi" check list) set your alt you plan to fly + 500 feet.. so that if you plan to fly at 22,000 - set the gauge to 22,500.  The Alt control rate is the FPM at which the plane will  increase the air pressure inside the plane. A rule of thumb is 600 FPM, or about 1/2 your climb rate (VSI).

Now on decent, set the alt to the same elevation as the field your landing on, or to zero.

There is plenty on the web to teach you all bout this, and it's interesting reading.
