Iris PC-21 Any Good?

Recommended Posts

Been eyeing this for a while... Something extremely sexy about a 5 bladed prop lol!

But the asking price is a but much considering it has no navigraph support. I do see a CDU of some sort probably basic. Wondering how the systems are done and if there's even an autopilot?

Anyone have any experience with it? What about fps/ performance?

Graphically is it as good as their recent PC9 release?

Heya Ryan,

I benefited from purchasing the earlier version, so the upgrade was free.

That being said, my first flight was the most fun I have had flying an airplane in a long time - what a freakin' hot-rod!!!

FPS, did not notice. I took a fast flight up Hells Canyon at an easy rate and saw nothing but  30 fps locked.

Is an absolute pleasure to fly - what you would expect from a high-performance aircraft. Stable, yet ultimately maneuverable. Kind of like an F-18 "light".

And Ryan, you don't fly this thing for navigraph support - it sounds like a V8 with a blower and is just about as responsive. Like I said, great fun!!! I did engage AP, and it settle down just fine, but did not fiddle with anything else.

A total blast - something about that gear whine that just turns my crank!!!

Update.

The PC-21 will punish the frame rates a bit in areas that are already susceptible to punishing frame rates, so it is no free ride. However, still a gas to fly!
