After an extended hiatus due to military service I found my runways were "shimmering" and the default taxi guide no longer operated. I also noticed the shadows from the AC appeared off and on. I disabled the directed X and it helped some. I did install a 3rd party airport add on, but would it affect everything else?

Hi Gary, Sounds like you had DX10 set on and that gives the flickering and missing taxi guiding arrows. You should be OK with DX9 (what you have when DX10 Preview is not selected). DX10 requires the shader_release_v3.2.3 download from the misc. section of the AVSIM file library to work properly. However that only fixes the DX10 component of FSX and does not fix some addons that don't support DX10 fully.
