FS9 Keeps Crashing

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

First post here.. But basically my FS9 keeps crashing when ever I'm at Fukuoka airport in Japan at a certain time. I thought it was down to AI traffic so I removed them (WoAI) ran it again and it crashed again. I reinstalled the AI and tried them at Kobe and it was fine. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing it.

Any ideas or tips would be great.

Sounds like a missing airport scenery texture if its only crashing at a certain time, say daytime in summer. If there are no updates for the airport, try re-installing it.

I've never modded that airport, it's always crashed there sinced I installed it..

Is there any sort of log that FS keeps when it crashes?

Try setting your traffic to 0% in FS9 settings, and then see if you can duplicate the problem.  That would definitely rule out AI as the cause, anyway.  Are you using an addon scenery for Fukuoka airport?

I would recommend checking out the AVSIM CTD Guide located to the right of this forum under Hot Spots. There's a program on the 1st or 2nd page called AppCrashView that you can download and run. Post your latest crash report here or in the CTD Forum and someone will see if they can help you with your problem. There's also an Event Viewer that you can check out and how that works is included in the AVSIM CTD Guide. What airport are you having issues with? If there is something wrong with the coding of the airport, then you will have to contact the author for assistance. Is it a FS9 airport or an airport made for an earlier version of FS like FS2002.

Hope this helps.

It's all standard airport. I turned the AI off and it worked, it's always at 12pm local time when it happens. I'm going to go through trying it without certain airlines and see which one it stops at.

Sorry, your post about not modding the airport wasn't visible before I asked if you were using an addon scenery.  Are you using any addon airports elsewhere in Japan?  FS9 can access scenery from a long distance on occasion.

Oh, and I noticed that the anonymous "one-star bandit" had visited this thread, so I voted it 5 stars to offset the foolishness.

If you're using World of AI, try downloading and installing the latest American Airlines package.  There was a bad texture in the package when first released last year, which they quickly fixed, but not before some people (like me) had downloaded it.  It caused me no end of problems before a visit to the WOAI forums uncovered the problem.

Good luck!

Hi everyone, firstly thank you for the replies and help.

I followed advice about a possible texture at fault and I finally found it. firehawk44 suggested I try the CTD which I did and there was mention of a Windows 8  Event logger, so I used that and discovered that there was a problem with the FE.DLL, so after deleting flight plans running I narrowed it down to Japan Air Commuter, which I had recently modified to add an aircraft with the new livery, voila I had it as a 32bit instead of DXT... Changed it over and it's all good!

Glad you were able to get your problem fixed. The AVSIM CTD Guide provides the solution to FE.dll problems too (page 7).
