September 15, 201411 yr I realize that this post could be in any of the forums, however since I fly with P3D I decided to post it in this forum. I must say the past 18 months have been an incredible time for us flight simmers. After wandering for 7 years without any future successor to FSX we now have an incredible platform with P3D Version 2.3. I finally have the flight sim that I have always dreamed about. With the future of PMDG supporting P3D and all the other add-ons that support P3D one could ask who needs anything more? However, we all want more. That is just our nature. I am not trying to exclude those who still use FSX or X plane but lets try to focus on the future direction of our hobby and not debate whose platform is the best. Rather I want to talk about what is on the horizon for all of us who enjoy our passion for flight simulation. Two areas that interest me the most are SLI and x64. I am not at all familiar with these two features. I want to know what difference we will see in performance with these two features. Is it just and improvement in FPS or will we see greater detail in the monitors? Will stuttering disappear? Will scenery load faster? In a nutshell what is the big deal with these two features? I just read that PMDG is evaluating the first aircraft to perform in P3D and they are taking into consideration the needs of those who move to x64. Does this mean that all of the software we presently use will be obsolete upon moving to x64? I also want to hear what other areas that you think needs to be improved for add-ons to our software. I finally got My Traffic for P3d working. I love this software, but now that my performance with Version 2.3 of P3D is so superb I want to see much more detail in the aircraft for My Traffic. With Oculus Rift soon to be releasing their consumer version of their product I see incredible times ahead for all of us. Please feel free to share your thoughts, needs, and desires for this incredible hobby. On a final note I want to give my sincerest thanks to the team at P3D. For those who haven't experienced Version 2.3 of P3D I can only say I feel for you. I finally have a platform that lived up to all I can throw at it. I have and i7-4770k CPU with and Asus Maximus Extreme VI motherboard and a water cooled case with a EVGA 780i GPU. I have two Samsung 850 SSD's, one for the Windows 7 operating system and one for P3D. I have a third Samsung 840 SSD for my add-ons. With Orbx scenery, My Traffic and Rex textures as well as multiple add-on aircraft I consistently get 25-35 FPS in densely populated areas with all of my sliders all the way to the right except for traffic, and they are usually well over half to the right. And this is without overclocking. The team at P3D has given me more than I ever dreamed off. My sincerest thanks to all those who continue to make this the greatest hobby of all time.
