Same here now, although I still have a Yaesu FT100 transceiver lying around here somewhere that has valve finals! Haven't used it in decades though. The world hasn't been the same since that bloke (Winkler was it) discovered germanium and Raytheon figured out how to make a transistor from it. And thus the good old days were gone...

Part of my job is maintaining public access internet PCs, and the number of times we get calls from the front end staff saying 'The monitor's broken'. You go out and you find that some pesky user has turned the brightness right down. Doesn't half increase your street cred when you repair the 'broken' monitor in 30 seconds flat!!Mike
