Helicopter advice

Featured Replies

Hi all long time ga simmer here, thinking I'd like a helicopter I see Cera sim and milviz are two options I'm looking at, never flew much just stock chopper looking for a nice flyer and maybe auto pilot, milviz looks to have a button to stabilize, any thoughts?

Dodosim, Cera Sim, Milviz, Nemeth.  Those are pretty much your choices.

Of those, the Dodosim 206 is generally accepted to be the best of the bunch in replicating the flight dynamics of a rotorcraft.  Graphically though, it's an older release and as such it doesn't have the 'eye candy' of the newer stuff from other developers.

(A note here: the stock FSX helicopters are generally accepted to be a pretty poor example of realistic helicopter flight dynamics.  The Dodosim completely overrides this and allows an adjsutable difficulty level so that you can learn at easier levels and then turn it up as you get more proficient.)

My personal favorites are:  Cera Sim UH-60, Milviz 407, followed by the rest of the Cera Sim fleet.  I have a lot of other helicopters, but they rarely/never get touched, and most aren't even installed any longer.

Not sure what you mean by a 'stabalize' button that Milviz offers?  If you're referring to the 'Force trim' button found in the 407, that is not a stabalize button at all, it simply trims your cyclic so that you don't need to keep holding it forward on a long flight.  It still needs to be used in conjuntion with the trim buttons or minor movements of the cyclic however, since it isn't a 'smart' feature and doesn't auto adjust for changing circumstances.
