SCDS Yak 40...rear stairs! How to close?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,Its been a while since I cranked up this superb aircraft and today I decided that it was time to get back into that gorgeous VC and have a flight. However, I haven't flown it since installing an update (several months ago now!), and I find that the model now loads with the rear stairs open. Wing fold, tail hook, shift+E+2 don't seem to close it, so I was wondering if any other owners of this fine addon could inform me of what key command closes the #### thing! Thanks in advance!Regards,Al.

Its not tied to any particular key press, you need to power up the stairs and then raise them using the switch. Its all explained in that manual thingy, you know the document that tells you how to do things? :-lol.Dan.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/112975.jpg

Thanks Dan,I'm usually a stern manual reader, and whenever I encounter a problem thats exactly where I go, but believe it or not its that long since I flew the Yak, that I couldn't find the manual! Obviously not looking hard enough, as of course I did find it after I'd read your post, glaring right at me in the 'start' menu!Anyway, all is well now! I read in another Yak thread, a post by yourself regarding the 1.3 patch, and the problems you had with it. Mine seems to work OK. I agree that the stabiliser is vastly over sensitive, but aside from that I can't find any other problems...yet. I checked their website and I see that no files (1.2 or 1.3) are available at present, and that they are working on v2.0. I always felt that its takeoff/climb performance is a bit strange. Never having seen a real Yak 40 takeoff, I have no frame of reference, but its just appears ridiculously underpowered to me. Aside from that, a great aircraft, and model. Thanks again for you help.Regards,Al.

Hey Al,You know what, I am VASTLY disapointed in the YAK-40 team, not only have the not supplied some of the docs that they promised, they have now discontinued the first version of the YAK and are now building a completely new one, something about a dispute with the programming team.Never the less, in its current state, I beileve it got up to V1.4, it is a VERY nice plane, up in the top 5 of my favourite planes, the latest version seemed to sort out most of the issues I once had, over-sensitve controls and a huge memory leak, unfortunatly, the lack of support, and general feeling of malaise at their forums, which have now changed AGAIN, make it a real shame, with the right people behind it, this addon could have gone far.It is underpowered, as I believe is the case in RL, I actually prefer it that way unlike some of the F-16 airliners we sometimes get ;)Dan.
