October 21, 201411 yr Simmers, I apologize heavily for how vague this is going to be. I have read a lot of guides on fine-tuning for FSX, but I was just wondering more on the general spectrum, specifically in regards to addons and FPS. I recently purchased a middle-high end rig (specs are listed on the side), and so far I've been pretty happy with performance. The problem is that I don't really know what to expect FPS-wise out of it. I've been running a few tests, and my FPS have fluctuated anywhere from 8 to 40FPS, where I've set the limit (yet another question - should my FPS slider be set to unlimited). This is all in the PMDG T7 by the way, but it does apply to all aircraft. Generally speaking, though, at addons like FB KSFO and FT OMDB, I'm between 10 and 22 frames per second, and I want to know if that's what I should be around. During flight, I'm up between 20 and 40. It can get down below 10FPS (albeit briefly) at addon airports, specifically at the two that I've tested - FB KSFO and LVFR KMIA, in the cockpit of the aircraft. It's alright, but if it's slower than it should be, I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong. I'm running it with ASN, TIR, EZCA, REX, and a collection of scenery and aircraft addons. I've put some seemingly important CFG sections below, but if there's any more you want to see, just ask (the whole section, whatever it is, has been pasted). I have already run the CFG through the Venetubo CFG website/program. FPS generally remain similar with and without traffic (I've tried with both), and same with adjustments to the autogen complexity. Because I use ENB (REX Natural), I can't seem to run FSX in full screen, so I just run FSX windowed. So again, sorry for the vagueness of this post. Just wondering if those FPS are what I should be expecting with the rig that I have, and if not, what settings I should be changing to get to where I need to be. Thanks for any and all help. Sincerely, Derek CFG Sections... October 21, 201411 yr Commercial Member I tried your setup with DX9 and got an 8% improvement to fps with your bufferpools section deleted. Next I set DX10 with the shader_release_v3.2.3 installed and got 35% increase in fps. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

October 21, 201411 yr Commercial Member Yes, depends on the scenery and plane but can expect around 20% at least most of the time with DX10 over DX9. Problem comes with some addon planes and scenery components show up blank. The Steve's DX10 Scenery Fixer copes with a lot of that and comes with the free shader release as part of the install. October 21, 201411 yr Author Are there any specific addons that won't work with DX10 and the fixer? I would consider using it, but only if most to all features stayed constant. Derek MacPherson At the risk of sounding cliche, I love planes.GTX 770 / i7-4790K / 16GB DDR3

October 22, 201411 yr Author Because I use AES, does anyone else have any non-DX10 solutions? As for bufferpools, I'll delete that ASAP and report back. Derek MacPherson At the risk of sounding cliche, I love planes.GTX 770 / i7-4790K / 16GB DDR3
October 22, 201411 yr I use the DX10 fixer and fly a lot of Orbx scenery and airports plus FTX Global with many addon airports from other developers and it works perfectly...Steves DX10 fixer has given me smooth flying and great detail Frame rates in DX10 are not to be gauged the same as DX9, they can be lower but the sim will be buttery smooth...highly recommend it Rgds, Shaun
