I had recently tried to install Air Scheffel AS738 by the autorun function on my pc not realising until afterwards that you need to do it via the 'run as administrator' way when installing it to os WinVista which is what i have.

      Subsequently it caused the aircraft initialisation failure Cessna Skyhawk 172, not allowing FS9 to run.

i looked for advice on how to solve this, knowing that an uninstall/re-install is not the way to do it, and read that it was advised to run disc 1 and take the cessna172 from the MSGAME1.zip file using WinRAR to read and extract it.

i did this, now the aircraft initialisation failure has gone but there is only Cessna 172 listed on the change aircraft section of the Create a Flight page. nothing else listed at all.

i have looked in the C/..../Flight Simulator 9/Aircraft page and everything is still there including add-ons, but it is not showing up when i start fs9.

The first thing to try would be delete the FS9.cfg file. When you restart FS9 it will create a new one. Let us know if that works or not.
