A long time ago someone came up with a fix to stop the water from rising up the cliffs on the coast just north of PHTO Hilo. I've searched for it and can't find it. Can anybody help me out with this? "Surf's up" is to be expected in Hawaii but these things are ridiculous!

I use MagaScenery Hawaii, KiwiFlier, and it does lend a far more detailed and realistic appearance to the Hawaiian islands, though I can't say for sure whether the mini-tsumani to which you refer is eliminated by MegaScenery.

 

 On a related note, the Hawaiian airports scenery produced by FSDT, for Honolulu, Hilo and a few others, are well worth acquiring, if you don't have them already.
