Just got X-Plane 10.31 and wondering if there is a way to pan in the forward looking view (no instruments) like you can in the virtual cockpit using the mouse?  This would really help in looking around using VFR, especially at night.

Some cockpits have this option, you can use the Pan Left/Pan Right key assignments to look around at 45' increments. The keyboard shortcuts are "Q" and "E" I think.

 

But not all cockpits have them, so it's hit and miss,
