Error reading Scenery path while installing VictoriaPlus

Please could you help me with this problem message I get while trying to install VictoriaPlus. Some History first- I recently visited this area while on holiday and fell in love with it. I downloaded the freeware Victoria+ and loved it so much so that after installing Orbx PNW I simply had to buy VictoriaPlus to go with it.  I uninstalled Victoria+ as advised in your forum but when I install the upgrade I get a message "Error reading the scenery path from ActivatorConfig.ini <Vector>  press any key to continue...  It then reverts back to Installer which tells me the installation was successful!  Not so as nothing has actually been installed into the scenery library.

Glad you enjoyed the area and welcome to the forum!  A couple of things.  Do you mean Activation Config.ini?  Can you advise which distributor you purchased from?  They have different installers ....

That was the exact message that pops up. The Victoria + installs perfectly. I've had no other problems like this before

No, I have the Orbx Iceland Free Demo andOrbx PNW recently installed. That's the reason I purchased this new upgrade.  I also was so keen to see the Norwegian pearl and MS Amsterdam in FSX scenery. I am from South Africa and we did an Alaskan cruise in July which stopped off in Victoria so I have actually walked around part of the scenery you did.  PNW also has Mt Ranier which holds wonderful memories 

Thanks for the info.  We're working on it.  So you can be prepared, you have to reinstall FSX.

Here in South Africa we have a saying EISH!!!  ( roughly translated  HUH!  OMG  #####   all rolled into one:)  WOW- Not too keen on that senario

 

Just to make sure then let me rehash what happened

 

I downloaded zip file- Extracted to temp folder- Ran EXE as administrator- Submitted all the Order numbers etc when asked- installer ran then just before the finish a window popped up with the error message as above- It then reverted to installer again and said installation complete successfully?

 

BTW- I had the PNW Demo which I uninstalled using Orbx special uninstaller before I installed the full PNW. All went well 

I also uninstalled Victoria+

Meantime you can uninstall Vic+ V8 and reinstall.

I retried installing V8  same problem but this was what it was trying to do   Execute:C\users\....SceneryActivator.exe

Good info.  Will advise when I get hold of the programmer who did the installer, that's where the issue lies.  You did install from an account with admin privileges, correct?

Henry, manually add these folders to the scenery library:

 

\Addon Scenery\JP_Object_Library

\Addon Scenery\VictoriaPlus PNW

 

And of course be sure to add Larry's goodies as described in the manual.

Hi Jon,

 

I added both these folders to Addon Scenery folder. and yes I have tried installing with Admin rights. Unfortunately still not completing installation. The same problem exists

 

IE  installs till popup comes right at the end called- Execute:c\users\.......sceneryActivator.exe     inside that box on a black screen the message  "error reading the scenery path from activatorcongig.ini.  Press any key to continue"

Thanks for your support. Its nice to feel someone cares.

I must admit I am getting a bit annoyed with FSS.  I have heard nothing from them.  My first case # was #24229 on 2 January. They suggested I post on the forum.

I sent them an email as you suggested and got a automated reply again #24336. I resent this reply telling them to link it to the first complaint.

Still no reply mmmmmmm

I have nothing but good things to say about FSS, I highly recommend them both to vendors and customers, yet they are imperfect of course.  I understand they are now in direct touch with you to resolve the issue.

 

Please report back here once you are fixed up, and thanks again for your patience.
