January 12, 201511 yr Hi PMDG, I hope things are going well with P3D development. Just a quick question (I am sure you have already asked this and explored already). Have you contacted Prepar3d to ask for updates to the core simulation to better suit your aid in bringing higher fidelity to the professional and training arena? The only reason I am curious is because Rob Ainscough Moderator for LM quotes in post 115 of the General P3D forum under Any News on V2.5 the fact that the developers have not because they have asked not. Someone brings up ATC in P3D and he goes to say that "Developers now is the time as LM are listening for any "missing" features LM does listen as long as core code changes are not high risk in implementation or considerably time consuming" (Paraphrased). I only ask because in one interview you mention that XPLANE developers listen and are forthcoming in helping you develop for that platform and I was hoping because Microsoft didn't listen to you, FSX:SE (we will see) that at least LM are listening to developers and helping create a better platform in which to build quality add-ons such as yours . I have the NGX and 777 in FSX only and am wanting to change to P3D but am longing for a more accurate flight dynamic experience. Your products do help but it is still FSX with limitations and limitations you have had to work around I know each platform has strengths and weaknesses I just wish you could incorporate more things into P3D then you could in FSX i.e fuel tank workarounds and more landing gear options instead of just N,L&R Gear for failures then we could simulate and test ourselves in VS43 just after Christmas for example because you could simulate the very rare failure of Wing Gear failure. I hope this comes across ok I am not meaning to pry or tell you what to do you know far more than I about development and your business. I am very happy with your products I just want to see you as I am sure you will push the limits of P3D and far exceed what you have achieved in FSX. I am a pilot in training just like Luke Pabari and I guess Luke (as would I) would be made up if he could get even closer to a higher higher fidelity 777 than you have already managed in FSX (pretty hard I know as the 777 we currently have is nothing short of amazing and realistic as FSX allows) Blessings Duncan Odgers
January 13, 201511 yr The only reason I am curious is because Rob Ainscough Moderator for LM quotes in post 115 of the General P3D forum under Any News on V2.5 the fact that the developers have not because they have asked not. Please don't mis-quote what I said ... and if you are going to use my quote you need to reference it intact -- such as http://forum.avsim.net/topic/457315-any-news-on-p3d-v25/?p=3153319 or Quote like so: For realistic ATC, now (actually 13 months ago) was/is the time for existing ATC developers/products to get their say in with LM for any "missing" features they would like to see. LM are not that interested in doing a highly realistic ATC and would rather leave that to the 3rd party ... 3rd party have a big opportunity to reach out to LM for core code changes ... LM does listen so long as the core code changes don't introduce a high risk (read break a lot of compatibility) or implementation might be considerably time consuming. PMDG are working with LM. Cheers, Rob.
January 13, 201511 yr Author Hi Rob, Thanks for this sorry I didn't know how to quote and copy and paste your post hence the muck up but glad to hear LM and PMDG are working together Cant wait. Thanks Duncan Hey Rob it would be cool though to simulate "minor" emergencies wouldn't it so we can test our skills and stay on top of the game. I guess what I was trying to say is it would be good to get a Level D Sim experience without having to pay £1000 for the pleasure. I am sure P3D and PMDG can take us there
January 14, 201511 yr Hi Duncan, Yes, the 3rd party community is part of what makes flight simulation tick ... LM hold the keys but they are certainly trying to be very involved in getting 3rd party fully on-board and leverage all that is new to offer in the P3D platform as it evolves over time. Some obvious growing pains, and there is a shift on how to develop for a moving target as it's no longer "fixed" ... but cooperation leads to success. In addition to PMDG, I'm looking forward to see what the Majestic folks come up with for their Q400 "training" version. I may even try some multi-crew with a friend to see how well that works once the Q400 trainer is released for P3D. LM have a wealth of resources at their disposal (the actual science behind it all from world terrain/geo data to GPS to fly by wire units to real world rocket scientists) -- it's a great company to hook up with and leverage all that they can offer. LM goal is to build a core and let 3rd party fill in the pieces. Cheers, Rob.
January 14, 201511 yr Author Hi Rob Thanks for your clarification it was just as I thought LM want to create a sound base in which 3rd parties can build. Duncan
January 15, 201511 yr I thought LM want to create a sound base in which 3rd parties can build. Yes, it will be nice to see a day where 3rd party are no long competing for VAS space and can spread their wings and offer all that there is to offer ... this is the day I believe we'll really start to see significant growth and change in flight simulation. I see P3D v2.x series as an intermediary station towards the longer term objectives. Cheers, Rob.
