May 22, 200521 yr Is there a fix for how visibility drops during certain weather conditions as you descend for approach? It seems that FS2004 doesn't show that visibility below you is say, 5 miles, but only when you descend through a certain maximum altitude, does visibility suddenly change. It's a bit odd that if visibility is only a few miles on the ground, that you would be able to see the ground clearly at 8,000 feet but once you go under that, it's like a sudden haze/fog envelops you.The same happens after takeoff - it would be rainy and 1 mi visibility on the ground, but once you take off and clear the cloud deck, you can see the ground clearly. Thanks!
May 23, 200521 yr Yes, I would like to know how I can fix it too.I have a registered FSUIPC and have tried a lot of options and configurations but it seems that nothing works for me...Anyone ?
May 23, 200521 yr Author OK, this is my fix and it involves compromises. Whether you accept this compromise is up to you.In FS9 in weather options I set cloud draw distance to 30 miles (minimum value). By the way this is good for performance. In Active Sky (or FSUIPC) I set maximum visibility to 29. Notice this is just one mile less than draw cloud distance - so you will never see clouds being drawn. Also if using Active Sky turn off "Depict FS9 Haze Layer".The above results in fairly uniform and predictable visibility with no sudden transitions.I tried other combinations besides this 30/29, like 50/49 or 40/39 and could not get satisfactory behavior across wide range of altitudes.Generally visibility is the most serious issue in weather generation in FS9 and there are probably no perfect solutions at the moment.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg Michael J.
