Clouds looking as painted with a palette

Featured Replies

Hi,I don't know if posting this here or in the hardware forum.I bought a new 6800GT to replace the 9600 Pro I had.Overall the performance is pretty amazing, since the PMDG flying dense coulds runs at 25 fps when with the 9600 would have run at 12, even when I maximed clouds and increased the screen resolution. The problem that I have and I am not being able to fix so far is that the clouds look as painted with a palette.I tried disabling the AA, but no luck. I tied every possible combination it came to my mind and no luck.Anyone has an idea of how to solve this? Thanks,Leo

It looks like you are running in 16-bit color mode. Check your FS display (hardware) settings. Check equivalent video card settings too.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg

Ahh, what would I do without the Avsim forums?Great answer and advice. I hadn't realize Nvidia controls also the control depth. As soon as I set the screen at 1152x864x32 (instead of 16) I got everything fixed. Thanks. This card is a total WOW! Screen at 1152x864x32, clouds at 100%(default clouds which are the biggest in size), in heavy weather, with the PMDG, and running at 25/27fps; totally jawdropping. And my processor is just a P4 3.04Ghz!!!Leo
