Sudden FPS and other issues

Featured Replies

For quite a while, FSX has been working good for me. I was able to get good visuals and decent performance, up to 30 FPS in rural areas and around 20 at busier airports. Recently, I performed a flight using the CLS A330 into Paris CDG by Aerosoft. My performance was ok, being at a detailed airport with lots of traffic I got around 15-20 FPS. After that, I decided to get VATSIM up and running and installed FSInn, FSCopilot and applied something called 'fsxfix' and 'load_servers_fix' to get it up and running. I ended up getting VATSIM working fine, but then turned my attention to offline flying again. I took a flight or two with a helicopter at FSDT's PHLI (which I had to re-install due to an issue with moving it to the top of my scenery library), increasing my LOD to 8 to better appreciate the freeware Kauai scenery that I have installed. I was getting very good frame rates (25-30), with the only problem being a very short 'pause' every 1-2 second while I was at PHLI. Anyway, I went back to LFPG, and this is where I noticed a problem. I was in the default 737, using the same settings I had used when I flew in on the A330 before (I had decreased the LOD radius to 'small' and was using the same traffic settings), but I was getting abysmal frame rates, as low as .4 FPS. This is with a default aircraft! I tried the A330 as well, and got the same results. I tired uninstalling FSInn/Copilot, but it didn't help. What's happening here? Is there any way for me to find out what cause this drop? My performance shouldn't drop from modest but playable on one flight, to completely terrible the next when all my settings are the same.

**EDIT**Wow, I feel like a dolt. Right after I posted this, I noticed a little module I had installed to prevent the F1 Audio-Environment-related crashes when using Helicopters in FSX. I uninstalled the module and my problems have been solved. I guess that should teach me to try EVERYTHING before asking for help....
