FSlive traffic review

Featured Replies

A good review, but i read that it took between 5-10 min to proces the file on the reviewers pc, and that was a relatively highend pc.It takes no more than 25 seconds to process the file on my pc, so something is wrong either with my live traffic or the reviewers.OHN

It takes the same amount of time on my computer also.I found a great way to find any airline flight numbers in or out of any airport,by opening the FSlive folder in CF9,opening for instance the HistAAL file for American Airlines, than edit, find, than say type in KBOS,and I can find all AA flights in and out of Boston:) Edit, In my file 163 different AA flights for KBOS! I wish this program covered the whole world,Iguess I will have to purchase My Traffic and dump Ulitmate Traffic, being that the only compatable one is MTraffic..http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/118347.jpg

Thanks for the tip. I too, being an AI nut, purchased FS Live Traffic after reading the review. I had all the requisite PAI, UT, AIA, MRAI stuff installed (not all at the same time LOL) I too, only have to wait about 10 seconds for the file to load. The positives so far1) Really neat to watch actual traffic come in with the correct model, flight number etc, fairly close to correct times, especially after you clean up the history a bit (push of an icon). I'm wondering if there is a way to figure out which flight plans came as the "base" for the package (and may be out of date), and ones that are added as we go. I have noticed a couple of aircraft at my home airport that should not be there at the time they are, but so far, no airlines that should not. Planes seemed to be spaced pretty well too, and go arounds are not too bad, especially using Ken Salter's taxi speed program.2) You can convert planes to AIA, PAI models and paints, but are limited to the current aircraft base (no 737-900) for example.3) Nice tracking map, displaying altitudes, waypoints, etc, kinda like following a radar screen, plus a list of all planes in a window you can open or follow. Fun for all you plane spotters and wannabe Air Traffic Controllers. You can click on any plane on the radar and follow it as it descends into your airport. The bad1) The planes and paints jobs. Awful doesn't begin to describe it. You have to a little experince with AI and a lot of time to convert the planes over (unless someone knows a quicker way, please chime in. I could not live with the default aircraft and paints in this program.2) The AFCADS are pretty lousy. Delete all of them from the program and copy your own that you currently use into the file. 3) The routes the planes to when decending/ascending in the area. My home airport is KONT. I should have a lot of westerly inbound traffic for KLAX at about 10,000-12,000 passing south of me, but it appears they cut in over the San Gabriel Mountains at 8-12,000 ft, and drop rapidly to 2,198 ft about 20-40 miles west of the KLAX. Obviously not realistic, but I suspect this is due to Microsoft and hardcoded into FS9. Boo! Anyone know of a program that handles AI approach realisticly?Anyway, I am having fun with it so far. I primarly fly/plane spot in North America, so it's limited coverage is not an issue with me. This program has huge potential. It's not great out of the box if you are picky about your AI, but with tweaking (that's half the fun, isn't it!)its coming around nicely.I emailed tech support (man they need a forum) and they sent me a message that they will be releasing an update to remove airlines that don't exist anymore, additional aircraft etc.Hope this helps.Brian S.

Hey Brian,How are you converting planes??? I've tried with no success and the website does not give you that much help in that area. And yes, they need a form really, really bad. But it's good to hear that they are going to update the software soon.

Hi Brian. I notice since I installed FSLive Traffic I don't seem to be able to receive a glideslope signal at any airport that I've been to. I haven't done any trouble shooting yet but I wonder if this is due to the new AFCADS installed with the program. Have you noticed a problem? I made an approach into KSAN yesterday and intercepted the LOC just fine but never got the GS. Just curious.

Hello Brian,I have MT and am very happy with it. I am no cpu expert, but dealing with the needed uploads, updates and ect are painless for the most part. All in all it dose a good job and I have had no issues to my knowledge of other airporys being affected.I hope this helps.Take care.
